Meagan + Garrett’s wedding was a beautiful affair that took place in scenic Vernon, British Columbia. Meagan got ready at the Mackie Lake House overlooking Kalamalka Lake. Built 104 years ago, it’s a gorgeous location that provides charm and character. The house is filled with all the perfect vintage touches.
Garrett readied himself across the lake at a sunny beach house complete with a boat dock-turned-diving board! Watch for Garrett keeping cool before dressing up!
The ceremony was held on the back lawn of the Mackie House where dark wooden folding chairs were adorned with fans beautifully showing the program while providing relief from the late August heat. Meagan + Garrett exchanged vows and rings under a pretty birch arbor, built by Garrett’s Father and Step-Mother, while family and friends sat under the shade of the huge and wonderful trees.
Portraits were taken on the Mackie House grounds where light and shadow acted as paint on a canvas for some stunning pictures of Meagan in her beautiful dress. The big trees, barn, house, and cedar-lined drive provided the perfect surroundings for our couple and their closest friends.
The reception was enjoyed on the shore of Okanagan Lake at Paddlewheel hall where our couple dined on a delicious rustic bbq buffet. After dinner we snuck out just to grab that last bit of light before the sun said goodnight. M+ G decided that instead of a “Head Table”, they would sit at a “Sweetheart Table” where others were free to join them during dinner. Speeches were filled with much laughter and happy tears and we could tell that our couple is much loved as friends honoured them with toasts to the future. The first dance was lit beautifully by the white lights strung along the ceiling and the mood was definitely set by their friend performing Ellie Goulding’s How Long Will I love You. The gorgeous cake was cut and dancing began with Paul Cousins of Okanagan Dance Party keeping the energy up all night! Watch for Meagan’s surprise for Garrett during the Garter Toss!
All in all, Meagan + Garrett’s wedding was beautiful, touching, and perfectly framed by the stunning locations, unbelievable DIY decor, and lots of laughter!
