When we first met Kim and James we were over-the-moon excited to work with them on their Kelowna Vineyard wedding day at Summerhill Pyramid Winery. We knew this fun-loving couple’s day was going to be full to the brim with happiness and the kind of joy that makes your cheeks hurt. We couldn’t have been more right.
Kim got ready at her mother’s home with her sisters and her brothers and the cutest ever nephew. Kim’s sister did Kim’s makeup… she’s basically a makeup artist… while actually being a dentist, in this family of dentistry. Kim was stunningly beautiful as she sipped her tea out of pretty tea-cups (who doesn’t love “Getting Ready”, tea party style). As her brother’s walked up the stairs in their kilts we just knew this day was going to be marked with charm and beauty.
James’ morning was filled with ball game watching with his brother, dad, and friends. Getting ready at their own home, James was relaxed as can be, full of that big charming smile and happiness. These guys got to the ceremony site pretty early, and were surprised with a lunch that Kim had secretly been planning to surprise them with.
The ceremony was filled with bright splashes of colour, created by the talented Stage Right, against the stunning natural back-drop that Summerhill Pyramid Winery’s vineyard provides. The ceremony was filled with laughter as well as sacredness as the fun loving Pastor Storm Moore lead them in through their ceremony.
The afternoon was filled with more laughter and fun and romantic photos, as we adventured through the vineyard, until it was time to head to the reception.
Walking into the reception area, completely transformed by Stage Right Etc, we were so excited by all of the pops of colour and rustic yet modern charm. Most weddings opt for draping on the ceilings, but Kim and James went with strings of bistro lights, giving the room an additional romantic feel. Dinner was served and we were impressed with the food allergy friendly food that Summerhill Provided, so that our groom could just relax and enjoy his wedding day.
After dinner we snuck Kim and James out for a bit of sunset magic, for a Golden Hour 10 minute session. Vineyards look prettiest right after the sun dips behind the mountains, and we loved how the romantic portraits of these two turned out.
The party really got started as DJ Haymaker M.C.’d the night with his trademark games, bringing all the guests together with laughter and totally breaking the ice. By the time the dancing began, everyones inhibitions were gone, and the best of the best dance moves came out of the woodworks, with DJ Haymaker’s trademark mashup through the musical decades. There was so much happiness and fun… we couldn’t help but take way too many photos.
We hope you enjoy Kim + James day as told by… us.
Congratulations you too! May your years be filled with more laughter that makes your cheeks hurt, and may you grow old together with your special brand of fun charm.
Be blessed.
