We’ve been anticipating this wedding all year! Tess and Ed found us through their phenomenal decorator Vintage Origami Wedding Decor, and we knew that this Edmonton couple would be so much fun! We know you’ll enjoy this Painted Rock Estate Winery wedding photography day!
When we drove up to Keri Glen Lakeside B&B for getting ready photos, we knew exactly where we were going, as we saw Tess’s beautiful Hayley Paige wedding gown hanging in the window, which essentially looks like a piece of art or amazing white stained glass.
The day started out with the most amazing bridal getting ready team; Jenny McKinney Makeup Artist and Katie Corneille of Katie’s Hair Artistry, aka Hair Goddess and Makeup Queen (as seen on their Starbucks cups the bride preciously had the barista label their drinks). And Tess squealed with delight when she saw her perfect look in the mirror for the first time! While Tess and Kaleigh (the bride’s sister) were getting all barbie-dolled-up, their family friend at the B&B whipped up the cutest little over easy egg and pita lunch for Tess.
The connection Tess and her mom have was so much fun to watch, and we all know where Tess gets her stunning looks from.
Meanwhile, hanging out at the RV in Naramata, Ed and his best-man Angelo, were getting ready for the big day. We LOVE it when we get to shoot in unique spaces and Ed’s getting ready space was so much fun to shoot in. You’ll just have to see!
Tess and Ed wanted to keep their wedding intimate, so they didn’t have a big bridal party, but Tess had her best friends forever waiting for her when we arrived at Painted Rock. The three friends prayed over Tess, while Tess got teary eyed, and then it was time to get married!
You’ve never seen a daddy more proud walking his baby girl up the aisle or a happier groom waiting for his beloved bride! The ceremony was filled with a sacred solemnity and so. much. joy as these two joined their lives together in the presence of their family, closest friends, and their Lord under a beautiful Birch Arbor created by Vintage Origami Wedding Decor.
After the ceremony and a private moment of “we’re married!” we whisked these two away to some whimsical and romantic willow trees for wedding portraits. Instead of spending a huge chunk of time for portraits, we broke it up into 3-4 little 10-15 minute sessions with different dramatic light, soft light, and sunset light throughout the evening.
When we arrived at the reception we were blown away by the teals, blues, eggplant, and whites of the tented reception on the grass. So many little details went into the decor of this amazing day, and Yuriko of Vintage Origami went above and beyond having picked out special fabric for the table runners and having them hand-sewn. Yuriko had Carrie of Ginger Creative create personal lettering decor with hand picked quotes from favourite Bible readings. The sweet-heart-table was an elegant touch with perfect Okanagan blue-sage accenting the lovely table.
After course after course of the amazing dinner by Joy Road Catering, there was time for mingling and more little photo opportunities in the golden hour sunlight. We always enjoy shooting candids at this time of the evening when everything looks so romantic and vibrant! The live music by Yanti Rowland was an extra special and classy touch to the evening.
When the dessert came out it was time for speeches, and one by one, every family member and friend that stood to talk about Tess and Ed had us all laughing and crying. Tess’s mom had Ed come up center stage for some advice for living with her best friend, Tess. From laughs about The Bachelor Monday Nights, to car horn advice, to wise counsel about spending time in prayer, Shirley took us through the full range of emotions. Every family speech was so meaningful and touching on every level. And then Tess’s daddy, Dave, stood up. It felt a little like being in church (he’s a principal and teacher, but he would make a fantastic preacher), and we all felt the immense love he has for his sweet grown up baby girl.
After a teary speech by Tess and Ed, it was time to cut the Dairy Queen ice cream wedding cake, and enjoy some coffee and more conversation.
Tess + Ed’s romantic and intimate wedding in Penticton couldn’t have been more perfect, and we are so blessed to have been able to spend the day with these two.
Congratulations you two!! And may your life together be blessed!
