We met Nancy + Jason at a little party a few years ago when they were just dating. We chatted for a long time about music and photography. They were some of the most friendly people we’ve met in a long time. I remember as we were parting ways, after talking about how we were on page 47 of Google… Nancy turned to me and said, “Well I look forward to seeing Barnett Photography on the first page of Google.”
Fast forward to this year, and we had the absolute privilege of shooting Nancy + Jason’s wedding day, and we are often on the first page of Google! Nancy is one of the most positive people ever. It’s such an honor when you meet people and tell them about your business and they remember you, and keep in contact, and THEN hire you for their most important day YEARS later. Nancy + Jason are such genuine people, who love music and all things artsy, and we have been blessed to know them.
Nancy + Jason got married this fall at the beautiful Guisachan House in Kelowna. This is one of the coziest places to have an intimate Kelowna fall wedding. Jason is from Newfoundland, and his family travelled the distance to come celebrate the joy of their day.
Nancy got ready at Guisachan House, in the sweet room they have set up for brides getting ready. Her makeup was done by Denise Barnes Makeup and you can visit her website here. Nancy was genius on her October wedding day…. she wore yoga pants under her garters <3
We just loved seeing Jason + Nancy’s joy as they officially joined their lives together in the Guisachan House garden. So much smiling and laughter. Rev Barb Samuel officiated the wedding, with a surprise to the crowd as she burst into song as the new husband and wife made their exit. In fact, their ceremony was filled with meaningful live music, which is only natural as Jason writes the most popular Live Music blog in Kelowna (you can visit his site here: http://laner.ca/). They had a guitar player throughout the ceremony, and Nancy’s sister and nieces sang the most lovely A cappella trio. Directly following the ceremony, all of the family and friends encircled the bride and groom and sang a song that has been a tradition in Nancy’s family for a long time.
The portraits were done on the grounds and Nancy + Jason wanted to do something a bit different with their bridal party photos. They wanted to celebrate the town they met and fell in love in, so we started at their favourite local brewery Tree Brewing Co, for some fun and offbeat photos and a little tasting. Then we walked downtown to the theatre and a great alleyway for some more portraits of the couple.
The reception was filled with many tears of joy and so much laughter, as Jeff Hay–DJ Haymaker MC’d the reception and created one of the most fun receptions we’ve been to. Their reception brought their love of music, Jason’s Newfoundland roots, and their love of fun together under one roof. Be sure to scroll all the way to the end to see how much fun these guys had at their dance party.
Congratulations Nancy + Jason! Be blessed!
