2.5 years ago we met Kasey, and booked Kasey + Ryan’s vintage themed Kelowna Wedding. Kasey is a smart one, and by booking this early she guaranteed our rates from 2.5 years ago! The couple is from Surrey, part of Metro Vancouver, British Columbia.
We’ve gotten to know Kasey + Ryan over the course of the last 2.5 years, and on their wedding day it was really like being with an extension of our friends. We had the opportunity to do a really sweet Engagement Session with them about a year ago, and to this day it is one of my favourite sessions ever. Check it out here.
But today we are talking about Kasey + Ryan’s destination Kelowna wedding at the famed Guisachan House. This venue takes the popular vintage theme and really makes it authentic. The Guisachan House was built in 1891 as a summer residence for the Earl and Countess of Aberdeen. From the authentic wallpaper to the vintage decor, this restored Heritage Home which now serves as a restaurant, is truly a unique place to Kelowna and a really lovely place to hold a wedding. World class Chef Georg Rieder, is in charge of Guisachan House, and this man is a wedding Guru. When you book a wedding at Guisachan House, everything is included, from the decor, to the florals, to the cake, and the plated 4 course dinner. Make sure to watch for my favourite ever photo of Georg, with his classic handlebar mustache.
Kasey + her girls got ready at the Guisachan House in a room that is filled with beautiful vintage vanities for each bridesmaid. Kasey’s makeup was done by Carly Beckstead of Concealed with a Kiss, with a beautiful vintage flair. The boys got ready nearby at one of Kelowna’s many vacation houses, as Kelowna is SUCH a huge summer destination for so many Canadians, and tourists worldwide.
Just before the ceremony, Georg could tell that Kasey needed a little extra fresh air, so he brought a fan and stayed with her and fanned her until she walked down the aisle. We can’t say enough good things about the professional and kind hearted Georg.
The ceremony was FILLED with high emotions. Ryan was teary eyed as he beheld his bride coming down the aisle. Kasey was welcomed by their little son Reid and her soon to be husband, and she was ecstatically happy.
One of the many benefits of a Guisachan House Wedding is the access you get to the full grounds for portraits. The Lane of Cedars, behind Guisachan House, generally locked to public access, is such a lovely place for portraits. Because of the remote access, we were able to have a really sweet and romantic portrait session in the Cedars for Kasey + Ryan.
Kasey + Ryan had a bit of rain, a bit of clouds, and bit of golden sunshine during dinner time. We were able to sneak them out into the beautiful garden during golden hour, when the sun came out just for Kasey + Ryan.
The plated, 4-Course dinner was wonderful with a choice of Georg’s signature Ham + Cheddar Baked Chicken or New York Beef Roast. Kasey + Ryan sat at a sweetheart table decorated in vintage crystal and Kasey’s favourite pink roses.
The speeches were packed full of laughter and tears of happiness if not also a touch of embarrassment when Kasey’s mom brought out a photo of Kasey as a child with her pretty “crimped” hair. During Kasey + Ryan’s speeches, there were not many dry eyes. Ryan has a special way with words, and he is such a genuine and kind man. It was heart warming, hearing his speech thanking all of his dear friends and family, and finally his new wife.
We are so glad we were a part of Kasey + Ryan’s lovely wedding day. Please enjoy, and remember to leave Kasey + Ryan LOTS of love in the comment section!!
Congratulations, you two!
