Alice + Richard live in the Vancouver area and came to the Okanagan for a Kelowna Destination Wedding, with all of their family and friends from near and as far away as Taiwan, where Alice is originally from. These two are just as sweet as can be. We were fortunate to get to do an Engagement Session with them, and following their UP! themed wedding, we put together a special themed Engagement Session that you can see here. We had such an amazing time with them at that shoot filled with 60 balloons, a picnic, and a beautiful cliff overlooking the amazing Okanagan Lake Landscape, and we felt an instant bond with them. Their wedding was at The Harvest Golf Club, and Milestones Events created a lovely Elegant UP! Themed Wedding for Alice + Richard.
We arrived at The Sandman Inn for the getting ready photos, where Alice had the most beautiful penthouse suite in the tower. So much pretty white, and lots of light made this suite a dream to photograph in, and a cozy place to relax before her wedding day, I might add. The best man is a sushi chef, so he made sure the bride and bridesmaids were packed with yummy protein before the big day…. and I got to munch on it too… mmmmmm! Best wedding lunch ever.
When I arrived the girls were just finishing up their hair and makeup and watching Indiana Jones. Alice was just super relaxed and enjoying her morning, and it was fun being a part of this laid back atmosphere and giving tips to the bridesmaids on food photography whilst I munched and shot all of the details of the morning.
The guys were getting ready in the same hotel, and the room overlooked the indoor pool, so Josh worked his mega magic to create great light, since there was no window light. These guys were the most polite and awesome group of friends.
Alice + Richard wanted to see each other and do the majority of their portraits before the wedding, as their ceremony was closer to the time of the reception. We took them to Spierhead Winery for a romantic First Look in the vineyard. Spierhead Winery is a smaller winery in Kelowna, but they are super sweet and so accommodating of wedding parties. After the first look we had an informal wine tasting and I think everyone left with a bottle of some of the best Okanagan wine. The bridal party portraits were done in the vineyard, and after a few portraits of the bride and groom we headed to The Harvest Golf Club’s Apple Orchard for more portraits.
After a bit of relaxation and a snack inside the lovely venue, it was time for the ceremony. Live Music on guitar serenaded the couple as they were married with their family and friends there to witness the joyful event.
After the ceremony, they all enjoyed champagne and canapés and enjoyed time taking photos of family who had traveled from far away to be with the couple on this special day.
The reception was filled with laughter and joy, one of the yummiest buffets around, and beautiful and tasty cake and cupcakes by Sugar Sweet Cake Company. After dinner we snuck the couple out for some signature romantic Golden Hour photos. With a change in wardrobe for Alice, the couple gracefully danced their first dance as husband and wife with much skill. The BEST DJ at Airwaves Music, Les Darroux, filled the evening with fun music. This guy is really talented and able to get the party going by paying attention to what gets the dance floor popping! All it took was a bit of the Bee Gees and some more disco and the dance party was exploding with fun and laughter.
We really enjoyed getting to spend the entire day with these two. Congratulations! Enjoy the photos and make sure to leave Alice + Richard some love in the COMMENTS 🙂
